Fourth-grade students invited University School administrators and Middle School Tour Project students to a brainstorming session in November. The visitors asked the students guiding questions about their topics to help generate research ideas, potential expert sources, and to narrow their focus.
Professional speaker, writer, and business leader Noah Rickun visited seniors recently to help them perfect their Tower Talks. This is his third year working with students and helping them with everything from crafting the perfect opening (hook) to effectively engaging the audience and plan an effective talk. Rickun is a Jeffrey Gitomer Certified Speaker and a non-practicing attorney.
The excitement for Tower Week is building! In the first week back from Spring Break, fourth graders practiced in front of mentors for their first round of feedback, which they used to refine their presentations. Over the next two weeks, the students will continue to incorporate this advice by practicing in front of their classmates. They will also meet with the middle school drama teacher to learn public speaking skills and techniques for building confidence to speak in front of a large group.
